Jim Burklo has been a mindfulness practitioner and teacher for nearly 40 years.

Jim Burklo has been a mindfulness practitioner and teacher for nearly 40 years. He serves as the Associate Dean of Religious Life at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He is an ordained United Church of Christ pastor who has ministered with congregations, university students, and homeless people. In addition to this new book, he is the author of five others in print: a primer on theologically and socially progressive Christianity, OPEN CHRISTIANITY: Home by Another Road (2000); BIRDLIKE AND BARNLESS: Meditations, Prayers, and Songs for Progressive Christians (2008); HITCHHIKING TO ALASKA: The Way of Soulful Service (2013); a novel about interfaith exploration, SOULJOURN (2013); and DEEPER LOVE: Faithful Rhetoric for Progressive Social Change (2016). He is an activist and board member with Progressive Christians Uniting, and contributes articles, meditations, hymn lyrics, and worship materials for ProgressiveChristianity.org. His blog, Musings, is read by lay people and faith leaders around the world. He earned his Master of Divinity degree at San Francisco Theological Seminary.
