Freedom remains central to Western political ideals. And yet, in our current climate it often appears championed by all members of the political spectrum with little clear articulation. Bonhoeffer recocognised the importance and ambiguity of freedon in his own time, critiquing its overly individualised conception, and offering instead a radically different foundation for considering what it means to live together that remains crucial for today.
