This illustrated lecture will examine the issues that arise from the possible impact of digital reality on our sense of self, our relations with others (ethics) and with God(religion).

Although they evolved several thousand years ago and addressed the spiritual, political, and cultural situation of a civilization very different from our own, the Hebrew Scriptures, also known as the Old Testament, continue to influence our lives today. The theological concepts, the ideas, narratives, and characters have been so deeply imprinted in the collective consciousness of Western civilization that it might be impossible to eradicate them.

Continuation of presentation and discussion led by Miriam and Alan on Jack Spong's Book, 'The 4th Gospel, Tales of a Jewish Mystic'. The topics will be the Passion, the Farewell Discourses and the Resurrection. Anyone who missed Part 1 will be not be at a disadvantage as there are handouts for this session and tonight's presentation will be 'stand-alone'. This month we shall be doing something different, going to a talk by Giles Fraser, fourth in a series of six weekly talks under the heading, "A Rough Guide to Christianity". The talk takes place at Giles's parish church, St Mary, Newington, on Kennington Park Road, London SE11, only two minutes walk from Kennington tube station (Northern Line). It starts at 7pm and is free. While there are links between the talks,they are each on a different theme and can be enjoyed as a stand alone experience. At the end of the talk there is plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion which may continue afterwards in the pub across the road. If you would like to come along with us to the talk, please contact me so I that I can arrange to meet you and introduce you to members our group.
