Black Sheep and Prodigals: An Antidote to Black and White Religion

Black Sheep and Prodigals is aimed primarily at people who are on the edges or outside of mainstream religion—those who reject, question, or have little interest in the tenets of tradional faith. It sets out to present a more contemporary and more humane approach to faith, drawing on honest doubt, common sense and spiritual experience. Dave is an Anglican priest and founded the legendary Holy Joe’s, a church in a pub in Clapham for disafected church drop- outs. He is now Vicar of St Luke’s, Holloway, a thriving parish church in north London and a regular contributor to Pause for Thought on BBC Radio 2.

Poetry Please

Following on from last months discussion about Mark Oakley's article on Poetry as soul language we wanted to pursue this theme. Some were planning to purchase his book ' The splash of words'. One key point was the ability for a poem to resonate with the listener in a limited number of words. We wanted to invite participants to bring a poem (or short piece of prose if no poem resonates) that has worked in this way for them. We plan to listen and respond to what we share and perhaps ask further questions of each other as to our choices so as to delve deeper into this rich vein.
