For five years, the members of a House Group of Maldon URC have been meeting monthly in winter-time to share our thoughts on a wide range of progressive Christian issues- including studies of works by Spong, Borg and Crossan. We have also listened to CDs of other leading thinkers and have shared a six month series on the Christian’s Toolkit – linking modern thinking to current societal problems. Most recently, we have concluded a winter study series on the impact of Jesus - in the early first century, its’ later years, and during the next three hundred years as the Roman world expanded and then collapsed. These are our early roots, and we asked ourselves how we connected to them.
Now, the group – about twelve of us – have affiliated to PCN. We welcome other people to join our discussions and add to our understanding.
