The Leeds Group comprises people from Leeds and surrounding areas, and from a variety of church backgrounds and none. We have a large (mostly email) contact list, from which ten to twenty or so gather each month.
Our programme has always been varied, with discussion a constant feature; a group member may present a topic or talk about his/her own life path; we may listen to and discuss a recorded conference talk; sometimes we have an outside speaker or facilitator; occasionally we join up with the two Harrogate groups; we may have a ‘bring and share’ session to which we bring, eg. our (least) favourite hymn. We are always open to suggestions, new formats, etc.
We meet every month except August, and although our official starting time is 10.30, tea and coffee are served from 10, giving us an extra opportunity to chat, meet new people, and borrow or return books from our ‘mobile library’.
Venue & Meeting Times
The Group meets on the second (occasionally the third) Saturday of the month, from 10.30 till 12
Chapel Allerton Methodist Church Centre
Our gatherings are in the Centre (mostly) or the church, which is opposite it. There is a car park next to the church, and bus stops close to The Old Police Station (now a pub) on Harrogate Road. Going down the short one-way street next to The Old Police Station, the Centre can be seen straight ahead.
