HYMNS ancient and modern, but are they helpful ?

'O worship the King, all glorious above' is an old hymn written in traditional language of Christian faith. It is not often sung today. It has been replaced by more 'modern' hymns. But are these in a language more appropriate for people today ? . For example, the one that begins 'Our God is an awesome God' found in the new Methodist Hymn book. We shall look at a few hymns and talk about their language. Come and join us. You are welcome to bring along a hymn you hate or one you like and can tell us why.
