Vote on Women Bishops in the Synod of the church of England
This press release was sent to the denominational weekly press on 10th November 2012
The Progressive Christianity Network Britain offers its prayerful support to members of the Church of England General Synod as they prepare to vote on whether or not to ordain women as bishops. Our hope is that the Synod will be led to do so.
We long to see the fullest equality in its ministry. We trust the Synod will in this way enable women to fully exercise leadership and pastoral care in the Church of England, as they now have the opportunity to do in the Episcopal Church of Scotland. We see this as a way to further nourish in our nation a way of applying the vision and example of Jesus in our time. One of the key points of our Network is that we recognise that being followers of Jesus is costly, and being open to the Spirit often demands that we embrace new ways into which we are being led.
