Obituary: Donald Nicholson
Farewell to a ‘good and faithful servant’! Donald Nicholson, possibly our oldest PCN member (96), died peacefully during the night of 11th to 12th May 2012.
He was a lively, ‘larger than life’ character who had with a great zest for living and a sharp brain. Particularly inspired by Ian Lawton when he visited Leeds, Donald hosted the ecumenical Monday evening Questers Churches Together in Roundhay Leeds group, and took an active part in discussions both at his home, and at the PCN Leeds group venue. He was well known and respected in the Roundhay area of Leeds as well as in his own church, and made a substantial contribution to the cause of progressive Christianity. Some may remember Donald from a PCN residential weekend at St Deiniol’s a few years ago, or from a national conference. This is a very sad loss, not only to PCN Leeds, but to PCN as a whole. May he rest in peace.
Sandra Griffiths, Leeds PCN group convenor
Donald’s God-daughter, Mary Patchett adds: There is to be a Thanksgiving Service for his full and wonderful life on: June 23rd 2012 at 11.30 a.m. at his church, Lidgett Park Methodist Church, Leeds
