PCN Britain is saddened to learn that Bishop John Shelby Spong, one of the worlds most inspiring religious speakers, has suffered a stroke

The Episcopal Diocese of Newark, New Jersey, made the following announcement yesterday

On Saturday morning Bishop Jack Spong had a stroke before a speaking engagement in Marquette, Michigan. The next few days are very important. His wife Christine and the Spong family would be grateful for your prayers

PCN Chair, Adrian Alker said this morning,

We are all deeply saddened to learn of Jack's stroke. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and those caring for him, hoping he makes a good recovery. It seems unlikely that his speaking engagements in the UK in October will go ahead and so we are suspending ticket sales for his engagements in Cardiff, Maidenhead and Malvern. We will clarify the situation as soon as we can.

Latest situation (20th September 2016)

Bishop John Shelby Spong has been transferred to a rehabilitation hospital near his home. There is reason to hope that he will make a recovery. However, it remains very unlikely that he could travel to Europe next month. Where PCN has sold tickets for his speaking engagements we have asked the event organisers to notify ticket holders that the tour is unlikely to go ahead. We have suspended further ticket sales. As soon as we get official confirmation that the tour is cancelled, ticket holders will be offered a refund.
