Chair's January letter to PCN members

Chair's January letter to PCN members

As the year begins, Adrian Alker reminds members of two significant events this spring

May I take this opportunity to wish all our members a shared hope that we might face 2017 with a determination to do all we can to make our world a better and more peaceful place. I hope that PCN will continue to be a source of encouragement to us all as we journey on.

As we enter this New Year may I remind you of two day events which I hope you will feel able to attend? On Saturday April 1st we are holding our Big Conversation, which is not only our annual meeting but the opportunity to meet with others across the Network, to share ideas and experiences and to dip into a couple of workshops as well. This will take place at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, opening the doors at 11.30am for informal meeting and lunch and at 1pm we formally begin the day. There is no charge and we hope that every group in the PCN network will be able at least to have a representative present alongside members who may not be in a group. PCN is offering travel expenses if a group is sending a rep, we are so keen to have all the groups represented. Please use the booking form on the website so we know who is coming and do speak to Sarah in the office if you would like some financial help with travel. View the programme here

The second major event being organised by the PCN trustees is the second Marcus Borg lecture being given this year by Robin Meyers at St Stephen's Church in Bristol on Saturday 13th May. Remember the splendid day in Birmingham last May when Diana Butler Bass was our speaker? We hope this too will be a wonderful day to mark our continuing thanks for the work of Marcus and to hear a person who is very much continuing Marcus's work. Tickets are £20 for PCN members, £30 for non-members - bursaries are available - £5 for full time students. Full booking details are on the website.

Finally a quick request. We are in the process of producing new publicity leaflets for PCN and it would be good to insert some good quality photos/images of people meeting in a PCN group or at a PCN event. If you do have any such good photos, could you kindly email them directly to me please? Many thanks.

Adrian Alker
