This leading US progressive minister will be in the UK between 5th and 13th May
May 5th: St Albans day conference - Progressive Faith and Practice. Session One: What do progressive mean when we say 'God'. Session two: Worship in a post-modern society: What do we do when we gather as a Community? Session three: Which Jesus do we hold dear?
May 10th: Malvern evnening meeting: Which Jesus do we hold dear?
May 13th: Brighton (Hove) day event - Thinking Allowed: an insight into progressive christianity. Dr Ray will be joined by Rev'd John Churcher, former PCN chair and a Methodist minister offering a radical voice from the edge. In the morning each will preach in a local church and then in the afternoon there will be three sessions: 1. What do progressives mean when we say “God”? 2. Which Jesus do we hold dear? 3. What do we do when we gather as a community?
4 Views on Pastoring LGBTQ Teenagers

"What do I do when a teenager comes out to me? How do I respond in a way that’s helpful rather than creating additional problems?" One of the four contributors to this book is Gemma Dunning, a London based Baptist minister, who will be speaking at the book's launch in Newport.
The church has a notorious record of making LGBTQ teenagers feel judged and isolated. So this is a book that aims to equip church workers to adopt a better approach. It is based on practical experiences.
Students polled on their belief in the resurrection

A poll of students by the Student Christian Movement shows that the literal interpretation of that first Easter isn’t set in stone.
In the poll, 15% of participants admitted that they didn’t believe that Jesus returned to his body following the crucifixion, responding ‘I believe Jesus’ spirit is with us but I don’t believe he physically rose from the dead’ or ‘I really want to believe that Jesus rose from the dead but I struggle to get my head around it.’

Dr Roger Ray is founder of the Community Christian Church of Springfield and heads The Emerging Church Facebook page.
Roger Ray is well worth listening to. His sermons are among the most downloaded progressive faith messages on the internet. His UK tour runs from 5th - 13th May. There are still has some vacant slot and the tour organiser, John Churcher, would like to hear from groups or churches that would like to host an event.

Progressive priest retires - an appreciation and a vacancy

The Diocese of Worcester has advertised for a priest to follow Peter Knight who looked after three churches in the parish of Malvern Link with Cowleigh. Peter co-founded the PCN group in Malvern. One of his churchwardens, Martin Purser, looks back on his ministry.
Peter Knight arrived in Malvern nearly 13 years ago fresh from Long Lartin prison. He had of, of course, been the chaplain. His first act was to change things.

When people make enquiries of PCN Britain they sometimes bring a credal yarstick by which they seek to measure us. Adrian Alker, the PCN chair, often gets called on to provide a reply.
When people ask us what PCN Britain stands for, we usually suggest they read our
eight points, which are symbolised in our logo by the by the eight pointed star. Or else we refer them to our
set of four leaflets which expand on some of the themes raised in the eight points. But sometimes enquirers are still not satisfied.....
