North Staffordshire Group Meeting – THUS SPAKE ZARATHUSTRA: IS GOD DEAD?
Sunday 7 August 2016
Friedrich Nietzsche was a brilliant nineteenth-century German scholar, born to a long line of Lutheran clergymen. But he himself came to reject their beliefs and held instead that God is dead. Nietzsche contended for a philosophy that is "beyond good and evil". In place of what he dismissed as conventional "herd morality", he championed the radical morality of the Superman. It may be relevant that Nietzsche's lifestyle led him to contract syphilis and for the last decade of his life he was insane. So why does his philosophy continue to attract such interest?- Start Date:
