On Saturday 2nd March 2019 from 11am to 3pm South Cleley Benefice will be hosting, at St Nicholas church Potterspury, “Singing Hymns again for the first time”.

Enjoy and celebrate singing together.

A day of singing and discussion linking traditional tunes with updated words. Do we find the words in our hymns comforting because they are familiar? Shouldn’t they instead challenge us? A comfortable faith is not one that is growing and adapting. The day will be led by Rev. Canon Adrian Alker chair of PCN Britain with help from Anne Paget who trained in music and drama and has had a career which has involved choir training and singing in various choirs and Andy Thomas a previous Director of Music at St John’s church Waterloo.

If you really think about the words we sing in some of our hymns and songs and are not completely happy about the theology expressed, this is the day for you.
