Michael Wright is a Quaker who has had a long interest in modern theological ideas, and is a Member of the Progressive Christianity Network. A former journalist and Anglican priest, he is an experienced speaker and writer. He will give an introduction to the work of Gretta Vosper. Her two books With or Without God, and Amen – prayer beyond belief set out ideas and practices for a new Christian paradigm. These ideas are initiating a debate on the future of local churches. It helps to understand what she is saying – whether or not you agree with her. Gretta Vosper is Minister in the United Church of Canada, who is “irritating the church into the 21st century.” She envisions a future in which the Christian Church plays a viable and transformative role in shaping society. Gretta will be speaking in Newcastle at 3 events from 18th to 20th September.
