William Tyndale was the first to translate and publish the New Testament (1526) and then most of the Bible in English. He was burnt at the stake on 6th October 1536 for daring to do so. Yet, two years later, every priest in England had to “provoke, stir and exhort every person” in every church to read the Bible in English ! On Whit Sunday 1549 the Latin Mass was forbidden and the Book of Common Prayer was imposed on every congregation. This led to a rebellion. Exeter was put under siege and the worst battle took place at Clyst St Mary. In all 4,000 were killed in battles and 1,000 executed… This leaves us all speechless today…

This audio-visual was first shown in the new British Library, then in California, Antwerp, and universities in Liverpool and Oxford. This will be the first showing in Exmouth.

All welcome.
