Marcus Borg is a New Testament scholar and stimulating writer. In The Heart of Christianity he combines warmth with expert knowledge and insight to revisiting Christianity’s “heart and soul”.

This will be a group experience, with time for prayer and work in large and small groups, seeking to explore how we are reacting spiritually and emotionally and intellectually to The Heart of Christianity. People are likely to gain most if they’ve read this before coming, and the event will be enriched if there a range of reactions to it, including some who agree with Borg and some who see things differently.

The event draws on the heritage of Christian retreats, and on group relations conferences which are ways of exploring what is happening in groups of people. Bringing these two together is a way of being open to where we are encountering God in the course of the event.
