Annual Quaker Business Conference (6-7 November) ‘Making Values Visible’

What Quakerism can bring to business, and what business can bring to Quakers. Free to attend on Zoom for Quakers and non-Quakers

Start Date:
Friday 6th November 2020
Start Time:

Quakers, and others, who own businesses have often used their business success to benefit communities and society. You may be familiar with famous names of the past, but the modern day contributions of organisations and individuals may be less obvious. To learn more, join our two day conference on Zoom. There will be discussions and plenaries to join each day:

On day one

• Mike Smith of Initiatives for Change UK on silence and empathy in business leadership in the time of Covid;

• Christine Abbott of Centre for Action Learning Facilitation on the influence of Quakerism on Reg Revans, founder of the ‘Action Learning’ system;

• Ed Dommen of Actares, Switzerland on Quaker shareholder activism;

• Stephen Allen from Sheffield Management School will reveal his research on how Quaker Meetings organise and how those methods can be helpful in a business context.

On day two

• Paul Grey of the Quiet Company (Friends House Hospitality)

• Ander Etxeberria of Mondragon Corporation, Spain (the world’s biggest cooperative)

• Rory Ridley-Duff of the FairShares Association

Instead of the usual fee charged for a face to face conference, the group is asking for donations to Woodbrooke Study and Conference centre. To register and to find out more about this exciting event, visit the Quakers and Business Group website on
