Matt Hicks classes himself as a secular humanist having left his evangelical roots over a long and gradual period. Whilst he prefers to wallow in the pool of rational and free thought, he recognises enthusiastically the human craving for creative interpretation of the world about us. To that end, Matt sometimes finds himself referring to his old background knowledge of Christianity with fresh outlooks that aid his approach to writing about the things that interest him.
Firmly wedged into Albert Camus structure of absurdity, Matt is also informally influenced by many philosophical schools from stoicism to logical positivism whilst employing pragmaticism to the practical world.
Matt is a Royal Naval Nurse and lives in Plymouth with his wife and two young boys. He enjoys cycling, running, spring board diving, writing, singer song-writing and playing guitar and ukulele. http://woodyduck.wordpress.com
