PCN Britain responds to yesterday’s Synod decision
We have issued a brief statement in response to yesterday’s decision by the Synod.
PCN Britain welcomes yesterday’s Synod decision not to take note of the House of Bishops’ report on Marriage and Same Sex Relationships. Furthermore, we sincerely hope that the House of Bishops will take this as an opportunity to reflect on both the tone and content of their Report. The Report spoke of the need to establish a tone of “welcome and support” for LBGT+ Christians; for us this does not go far enough and we feel that the tone needs to be one of loving acceptance and mutual respect.
PCN Britain, along with our friends and partners, One Body One Faith, Modern Church, and Inclusive Church, will continue to call for change. It is imperative that the ongoing hurt and rejection of the LGBT+ community by the established church is recognised and that these divisions are bridged with humility, compassion, and respect for difference.
