Peter is originally from Northern Ireland where he founded the Ikon community in Belfast. A provocative author and speaker, he describes himself as part of the Emergent Church dialogue. His most popular books include “How (Not) to Speak of God” and “The Idolatry of God”. He critiques the church for selling God as the answer to our uncertainty and dissatisfaction. ‘You can’t be satisfied; life is difficult; you don’t know the secret.’ The good news of Christianity, he argues, is about living in the midst of unknowing and brokenness.
Two other Emergent Church speakers from the UK, George Elerick and Katharine Sarah Moody, will be joining us and leading sessions. The weekend is arranged by PCN Britain in partnership with the Student Christian Movement.
The programme will be a mixture of talks, panels and workshops with some lighthearted entertainment on the Saturday evening. We aim to end with a service reflecting the themes of the weekend. Read the full programme and speaker biogs
